Vintage Sheet Bag.

I found my scissors.

Tipped all my material out onto the floor.

And got started with my vintage sheets.

When I make one of these bags I just make it up as I go along.

I keep adding embellishments and bits of cut up doilies and all sorts of little scraps and tit bits.

Sometimes the art is in knowing when to stop!

Sometimes I use them to cover up imperfections in my sewing, or a hole in the fabric.

I save every little scrap of embroidery, lace and trim.
For making bags.

But it starts and ends like this.

And this.

I bought a fabulous book of adult patterns in Canberra.

They are by a Japanese designer, and they have a lovely vintage simplicity about them.

Have also been inspired by this month's Australian Country Style, and the lady in Tasmania making the vintage children's dresses.

Has re-inspired me to make a few more "little pink dresses".

Only one more day of my holidays left, and I intend to make the most of it.

  3. Well yes I was wondering how all the bits fit together..in your head it would seem! At least I have actually cut my pattern out & fiddled with my fabric & doilies. That just makes me realize that I haven't spotted an Australia Country Living in quite some time. (well I guess you'd have to have one of those just now wouldn't you!) Do show us about the vintage dress lady sometime won't you : ) I was just wondering if you had caught up with Little Cottage Comforts? Pomona is having a giveaway that might be useful to you. http://littlecottagecomforts.blogspot.com/ have a lovely week Miss Sarah ; ) x
